Prince Charles took lead in crisis talks after Oprah interview: expert - Page Six

Prince Charles “took the lead” in formulating the royal response to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, according to a royal expert.

In the March 7 interview, the couple alleged that there were “conversations” about their son’s skin color and claims that Meghan could not get professional help after suicidal thoughts.

The palace replied two days later with a short message from Queen Elizabeth, which was likely drafted by Prince Charles, according to Robert Jobson.

“The Queen is 94 and the Duke of Edinburgh is incapacitated, so he will be trying to placate and learn lessons from this so something can be worked out to everyone’s satisfaction,” Jobson explained. “The royal family like to do things as a team, and if the team is being trashed they like to react as a unit and a family,” Robson said.

In her statement, the Queen addressed the allegations of racism:  “Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”
