FKA Twigs Calls Shia LaBeouf's Apology "Gaslighting" - Hollywood Reporter

The singer-songwriter filed a lawsuit against the actor last December, in which she outlined claims of verbal and physical abuse.

FKA Twigs on Thursday opened up to Gayle King about her relationship with ex Shia LeBeouf in which she claims there was tremendous verbal and physical abuse.

Sitting down for her first television interview with CBS This Morning, which aired in full Thursday, the 33-year-old British singer-songwriter and actress (born Tahliah Barnett) told King that the 34-year-old Transformers star was a manipulator. And for that reason, she did not believe or accept a blanket apology LeBeouf issued last December after she filed a lawsuit against him.

Barnett made international headlines when she filed that lawsuit, which included claims of sexual battery, assault and emotional distress. LeBeouf has since denied all allegations, but he responded at that time, in part, "I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”

Barnett told King Thursday of those words, "I think it reminds me of some of the gaslighting I experienced when I was with him — the taking some of the blame, but not all of it and then denying it."

As outlined in the lawsuit, Barnett reiterated that had LaBeouf sought treatment and donated to charities that help victims of abuse — as she claims she asked him to do several times — she would not have taken legal action. LaBeouf, whose talent agency is no longer representing him, has recently entered treatment--after Barnett filed her lawsuit. He has not commented since other than through his lawyers who denied Barnett's allegations.
